Hi! My name is Cricket, and I am an incredibly sweet, friendly, happy-go-lucky, fun-loving and adorable (look at those ears!), 10 month old, 40 pound, spayed, female Whippet/Great Dane mix! I know my photos make me look like a serious girl, but honestly, I am anything but! I couldn?t be more delighted and happy and enthusiastic and overjoyed about every little thing. I am also very affectionate, and love to cuddle and snuggle and give kisses. I guess I am just one of those dogs who doesn?t smile for the camera!
My foster parents say I am an absolute joy. They think I am perhaps the smartest dog they have met in a very long time?I learned to do ?my business? outdoors in less than a week (at least, when someone is there to let me go outside every few hours), and I am learning all sorts of fun commands like Sit and Wait and Come! I am very attentive to what my humans teach me and pick things up really quickly. I would absolutely love someone to take me to a positive dog training class and to agility classes! I bet I would be the star pupil and make you so proud!
I?m living with 2 other dogs and some cats, and I am a sweetheart with all of them. Sometimes the older female dog scolds me for things like being too near to her or for being more energetic than she is in the mood for. I take it really well, and give her ?I?m sorry!? kisses and then try to make her laugh. I think she is softening up to me!
Since I am still quite young, I have good energy, so really need a home where I will get to do some daily running (on leash with you, in a fenced yard, or at the dogpark), and/or some good long walks or hikes. I would love adopters who were active and wanted a companion in their outdoor activities! I am learning to chase the Frisbee and would probably make a great ball retriever, if you worked on it just a little bit with me!
I have a bit of separation anxiety, so would do better in a home with another dog, though could consider being an only dog if someone was around a lot and was willing to work on the separation anxiety with me. At present, being in a crate absolutely terrifies me, so that is not a good place for me to be when you are not at home. My foster parents are working to help me feel less scared of the crate, but it?s slow going and could take months for me to be ok with that. In the meantime, they leave me and their other dogs in their mudroom when they are away from home, as it keeps me out of trouble. You know that young dogs like me enjoy chewing stuff up when no one is around to tell us not to!
