Hello my name is Sasha and I am a truly wonderful, sweet, loving, delightful 6 year-old, 40 pound, spayed, female Boston Terrier/Shepherd mix (we know for sure that my birth mom was a Boston Terrier, and I look very shepherd-y).
I am very sweet and loyal, and I love to play fetch, go for walks and/or run about the yard, swim, go camping, and I love the snow as long as it?s not too cold to hurt my paws. I am an enthusiastic, happy, and active girl, but I?m not hyper. I?m also curious and smart! I like to follow you around, because I?m interested to see what you?re doing and worry I will miss something cool going on! My mom is always telling me there is nothing to see, but I think differently, there is always something to see! I am told I am smart because I seem to learn things very quickly. I know sit, stay, down, go to bed or go lay down (which means go to my kennel), shake, play dead, and I can ?do the moonwalk? (aka, walk backwards on my hind legs) for a treat!! I am % 100 houses broken and kennel trained too. I love car rides, and on short ones, I sit up watching out the window and catching a breeze. On long car trips, I get a bit nervous and prefer to lie on the back seat floor.
I have a special toy named Piggy that I have had since I was a puppy and Mommy sings to me ?Where is Piggy, Where is Piggy, Go get Piggy, Go get Piggy? (to the tune of ?Where is Thumpkin??) and I will search the whole house until I find Piggy, then I will bring Piggy to you so we can play!!! How adorable is that? Mommy has learned not to sing it to me unless she is ready to play, because I am relentless to play once I find my Piggy!
I am in great health with no major problems, except that I am allergic to wheat, so I must eat special wheat-free food or I get terrible ear infections. Same goes for treats, although if I have a treat once in a while with wheat it?s not the end of the world. One neat thing about me?I have a small dewclaw, --which is an extra toe--and I?m told having one is good luck!
My Mommy dopted me from the SPCA as a puppy and we lived in a nice big house with a fenced in back yard and 2 kitties. When I was a year old my Mom got another small dog and we became best friends. Then one day when I was about 4 years old my mommy had to leave me and my brother behind. I did not see her for about 2 years and I can?t tell Mommy what happened while she was gone, but I think she knows that the man that was mean to her was also mean to us. Thankfully, after 2 years, mommy came back and took me away from there, though unfortunately, my brother dog had to stay. I am still the same loving, sweet, and loyal dog that I always was, but I do have some fears now. Like if you pick up the retractable leash, I get really scared that you might hit me with it. I miss my brother (and worry about him of course) but I?m just fine being an only dog, and I am still great with kitties.
Very sadly, my mommy can?t keep me. Her apartment does not allow dogs and anyway, I need room to run and there is no space here. I miss playing ball and running in a yard. Mommy does her best to take me for walks and I am learning how to walk on the leash, which I never had to do when we lived in the country. I get a bit agitated when I am on leash and we see other dogs, and though I look mad at them, when we have met, it has been fine. I just need to get used to being on leash and also realize that other dogs are not going to hurt me.. Once I realize the other dog won?t hurt me, I just want to play.
Having had a younger brother who liked to take my chew toys and bones from me, as you might imagine, I am very protective of my chew toys and bones! I would love to learn to ?trade? a toy or bone for a treat, so I can feel happy about letting you take things away from me! One plus about being an only dog is that no one is stealing my toys and bones anymore!
