Hi my name is Hannah, and I am a super friendly, ?happy-go-licky? (tee-hee!), 1 year old, 50 pound, very sweet Great Pyrenees/Yellow Lab mix! I was rescued from a very high-kill shelter in rural KY, and at the time I was emaciated and quite ill. Turns out I had Parvo, which can be fatal to younger dogs (and sometimes even dogs my age), but luckily I got good veterinary care and made a full recovery! Once I was well enough to travel, the nice ?doggy underground railroad? brought me to my new foster home with Cayuga Dog Rescue and I have been having a great time ever since!
The main thing to know about me is that I?m very loving and sweet and adore being around people. I follow my foster parents around from room to room and am so happy when they can work from home and hang out with me! My favorite is when we get to all sit on the couch together and hang out!
I?m still a big, silly, energetic puppy! Meaning...I am thrilled with every little thing that happens...I am overjoyed by your attention, I am ecstatic about my fun dog toys, I am over the moon when we go for a hike, and I could not be more loving and grateful when we snuggle. It also means that I have lots of puppy energy, and i can be fairly described as "busy and active" in a very positive way. I really need to get out every day for good exercise like jogs or hikes. and love to be mentally stimulated by playing games with you (or by myself!), and by learning tricks and commands (using treats!). I can get so excited and happy to be outdoors though that I sometimes pull very hard on the leash, so my foster parents are working on this with me, and I am making a little bit of progress. They tell me they are going to introduce me to a Gentle Leader this weekend, so I am very excited to see what that is about! And while I love playing games with you, I am also able to entertain myself for periods of time...I usually race around the house for a while every day throwing my toys up in the air and chasing and pouncing on them which totally cracks up my foster parents!
Since I am also a pretty smart cookie, I can get bored unless I have mental stimulation as well, such as play time with other dogs, interesting chew toys or treat-puzzle toys, or playing with my owner.
I didn?t know a thing when I arrived here?not even to ?sit!? I am enjoying being taught new things and new house manners by my foster parents, and already I am doing well with Sit and Stay and Leave It! I like the attention that comes with training, but also love the treats. I love all kinds of treats, especially peanut butter-filled Kongs and any kind of beef bone or antler that?s good for strong chewers.
I am really good with other dogs, but am a bit too curious about cats at this stage in my life.
I have an extremely sunny, happy, loving disposition and will make a great companion for my forever owners!
