Hi! My name is Julie and I am an incredibly sweet, smart, friendly, and very beautiful, 1 year old, 50-pound, spayed, female Golden Retriever mix!
I'm a really wonderful girl, all-around! Everyone who meets me tells me this, and it makes me feel so happy! I?m all about play and affection and fun and adventure. I am thrilled when I get attention from people and seem very people-focused (once I get to know you a little bit). I haven?t had a lot of people-time in my former life (the rescue folks guess), and I would be over the moon if I got to be someone?s loving companion. I love being petted, getting ear scratchies, being talked to, and getting belly rubs. I?m interested in what you?re doing and I am very curious and bright. I?m smart and am eager to learn, but don?t know too many things yet (no one ever took the time to teach me, sad to say), so would love an adopter who will want to teach me lots of fun stuff! I would love a positive training class, to learn tricks, and to do agility!
I am being fostered at a fabulous kennel in town and the kennel owners are incredibly nice. I don?t get as much people time as I would like, but I have lots of great dogs to play with every day, and we have so much fun!
When I first go out in the fenced yard in the morning, I run around with such delight?I love greeting the new day and stretching my legs and sniffing the air! Then I make my rounds of playing with every dog who is there?well, the ones who likes to play, that is. If dogs don?t want to play, or if they?re old and uninterested, I respectfully leave them alone. I?m a typical Retriever in that I love the ?rough-and-tumble? type of play--I love to jump up and ?box? while up on my hind legs (some people call it ?play hugging?), and I love some good ol? consensual neck gnawing! That's the best! The people say it's really fun to watch, so much delight, and such cool play moves!
Although I love playing with other dogs very, very much, I am not able to share toys or other resources with them (like food), and when I let other dogs know to leave my toys alone, it can sound awfully growly! For this reason, I would love to be the only dog in the house, and sad to say, I should probably avoid dog parks because there are usually lots of balls and Frisbees lying around in dog parks. I would however LOVE play dates with your friends? dogs, but make sure to have them always put the toys and food away before I get there! As long as there are no ?resources? around, I am a perfect playmate! Also, no cats for me...I am too interested in chasing them!
I'm getting loads of dog-dog time here at the kennel, but I so much look forward to more time with people when I get adopted. I would love to live with someone who was fun-loving and playful, and it would be great if you were active and wanted a companion for walks and hikes or jogs. I currently have this idea that pulling while on leash is appropriate, so the rescue folks say that a Sensible Harness or an Easy Walk Harness would help me learn to have nice leash manners. I will need a little practice, but I promise that I am very bright and very affable, and I?m sure I will learn gorgeous leash manners lickety split!
While I am having a great time here at the kennel with all my dog buddies, I would love to find a forever home all for myself! I have a wonderful temperament and am an incredibly joyful, loving smart girl and promise to fill your life with more love and laughter than you thought possible.
