Beagle - Tootsie (gentle And So Loving!) - Small - Adult
Hi my name is Tootsie and I am an exceptionally adorable, sweet and mellow, silly, huggable, female Beagle! Quick Fact Sheet: Age: 6 years old Breed: Tricolor Beagle Weight: Well a healthy weight for me is 20-25 pounds, but apparently no one told my former people because I currently weigh in at about 40 pounds! Yikes! The good vets at Cornerstone Vet Clinic have prescribed a good weight loss program for me and I am on my way to a healthier, smaller me! Spayed: Yes Good with other dogs: Yes! A bit shy at first, but definitely enjoys having them around. Too overweight to even think about playing, so we will have to see if I like to play with other dogs once Im small enough for that to be a possibility. Good with cats: Yes! Background: I was surrendered to a high-kill shelter in Kentucky by my family because they could no longer afford to take care of me. No one knows more about my background, but whatever my circumstances and history were, it has left me a little on the shy side, and with tremendous sweetness and gentleness and love! Personality: I am very calm, mellow, and sweet -natured. My foster mom says I do not have a mean or aggressive bone in my body, and that I am so adorable and sweet, it almost hurts! ? I love to cuddle with people and if you set me down next to you on the couch I will happily stay there as long as you like! I dont seek out your attention (yet, anyway), but if you come over and give me some (or pick me up and put me on the couch next to you), I am so happy and content! Currently (and probably in part due to my extreme overweight), I am pretty much of a couch potato, enjoying laying on the couch or on a dog bed for as long as you will let me. I really will just chill out all day long, so my foster parents put a leash on me and invite me to go out into the yard with them every few hours when they are home. I like being out and about in the fenced yard, I just dont think to initiate it. When my foster dad was asked what I do that cracks him up, he said, Well, she grunts! ? She grunts when she gets her ears rubbed, grunts when she sees people she loves, grunts when she wants to get up on the couch to cuddle, and just generally grunts with delight knowing that she has a family. She waddles around the house, loves to cuddle, and her ears are bigger than her head. She is really just a great big lump of sweetness. Awwwwww! I am completely housebroken-- have not had one accident since I arrived. I am also totally non-destructive in the house. My foster parents leave me free roam all day when they are at work, and I am perfectly mannered in the house. Right now, I refuse to eat kibble, but am happy to eat wet food. Were working on that! Loud noises make me nervous, and when they happen, I go hide out in a crate or on my dog bed for a while. They are my safe spots, and I appreciate having them. like to go out and run (aka, waddle) around the yard with the other dogs and I will chase a ball but I dont get at all why you seem to want me to bring it back! Cohabitation: There are 2 other calm dogs and a cat in my foster home and I get along famously with all of them. A home that has another calm dog in it would be fine as other dogs provide support and encouragement, however I would also be fine as an only dog as long as I got good attention from the person/people! There is a 2 year old boy in my foster home and I completely adore him! I love to watch him and follow him around, which is pretty adorable, because I sort of waddle behind him like a baby duckling as I do my best to keep up with him. I really want to sleep in bed with him but my foster mom says I snore really loudly so Im not allowed (yet). Im hoping that once I lose weight, I might not snore so much, and then I can sleep in bed with him! I totally adore people and well-mannered children who know how to be respectful. In general I need a relatively calm quiet environment to feel safe and comfortable. Medical: I am in pretty great overall health, save a few small things. 1) I have low thyroid, so am working on getting thyroid medications adjusted to
